This plant was introduced from Japan by Barry Yinger in 1975. Golden Sweet Flag is named after its sweet citrus scent that it emits when it is pinched or bruised. This plant has been a favorite for quite a while now, it is actually the oldest surviving line of monocots known to science! Golden Sweet Flag loves moisture, and can be planted in up to four inches of water, so it is perfect for your pond or water garden! This plant is hardy in zones 5-9 and does best in full to part sun. This unique and beautiful plant will be the perfect addition to your pond!
